Many of our elected officials, in our past and present, are deeply religious individuals. Whether these decision makers are Catholic or Christian, practicing or not, most of them were exposed to religious doctrine in some form. Many prominent politicians remember the zealous pastor as young children that inadvertently taught them about the importance of passionate presentations. William Wilberforce was greatly influenced by John Henry Newton, later resulting in the abolition of the British slave trade. President Clinton, President Bush (who is influenced by religious doctrine and not necessarily any particular religious leader) and President Obama are all deeply religious individuals.
